Very nice, but the storms would come in in the middle of the night and scared the hell out of me lots of mosquitoes too I would recommend ringing an RV or camper next time just to be safe instead of being on a cot in a tent during a lightning storm.

Beautiful campgrounds. Great hosts. Clean facilities. Movies by the lake with free kettle corn on Saturday night. Hiking, wild flowers, fishing and canoes. It was delightful.

We had an excellent time at Whitehorse Lake this past weekend. The road to get there is not nearly as bad as some described. The campground is nicely developed and very well taken care of. The camp hosts Dave and Linda were very friendly. They came around to let us know about campground activities and even grabbed our garbage on the morning of checkout. We paddled the lake on our SUP, rode bikes around the campground, relaxed at our sites and got some fishing in too. The Black Bear snack shack (food truck) has hot dogs, hamburgers, Hawaiian shaved ice, ice cream, and more. We tried a little of everything and were happy with the quality. The Black Bear snack shack doubles as a mini mart and canoe/kayak/paddle board rental shop. The mini mart offers a wide selection of camping supplies. Ice is available, but costs $7 a bag, so stock up before if you can. No swimming allowed in the lake.
About Whitehorse Lake
Nestled deep within a remote corner offering an idyllic escape, Whitehorse Lake is a hidden gem for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. This beautifully maintained campground provides a pristine setting with numerous activities to keep you entertained. Visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding area by renting kayaks, canoes, or paddle boards directly on site. Fishing aficionados will find solace casting a line while basking in the tranquility of the lake waters. For those seeking comfort, the campground is well-equipped with clean facilities and friendly hosts who ensure every visitor has a memorable experience. The Black Bear snack shack adds a delightful touch to your stay, providing everything from hearty hot dogs and hamburgers to refreshing Hawaiian shaved ice and ice cream. While Whitehorse Lake offers many recreational opportunities, it is important to plan your visit thoughtfully. The remote location means a 10-mile journey over dirt roads, which can become challenging during the monsoon season. Additionally, despite the temptation of its clear waters, swimming is not allowed, so plan accordingly. Experience movie nights by the lake, complete with complimentary kettle corn, and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Whitehorse Lake amidst vibrant wildflowers and the gentle hum of the natural world. It is an exquisite destination for those seeking the charm of a true camping experience, albeit with the caution to avoid tent stays during stormy periods. Come prepared, and you'll leave with cherished memories and a longing to return.
