The trees are the real attraction. Occasionally a train passes, but fast. Back to tranquility. Love the paths in the forest. Haven't seen elk, or any ants for that matter. It's tote out your trash in Fall, but a dumpster provided in Summer .

This is a nice little day use area! There is a boat ramp and the lake is not filled with algae. The trails are well groomed and plenty of space to run and play. Definitely a great stop for an afternoon lunch.
About Cataract Lake
Nestled amidst the serene setting of nature, Cataract Lake offers visitors the perfect blend of tranquility and natural beauty. This hidden gem is not only ideal for a short getaway but also caters to those looking for a peaceful day-out adventure. The pristine beauty of the surrounding forest is accentuated by well-groomed trails that encourage exploration and discovery. While strolling around, you may not spot any elk or ants, but you're likely to witness hawks in action, perhaps as they gracefully dive to catch fish or tend to their nests. Although sometimes you might catch a glimpse of a passing train, the sounds are brief and soon return to the peaceful rustling of leaves and birds chirping. A major attraction here, the lush, vibrant treescapes, keep nature enthusiasts enchanted for hours. Whether it's taking a leisurely hike or finding a quiet spot to read or take photographs, Cataract Lake accommodates all. With careful environmental management, visitors can find trash facilities available in the summer and tote-out-your-trash advisories in the fall, ensuring this natural haven remains pristine. Visitors should enjoy the beauty without stepping into the waters, particularly when alerted to potential blue-green algae warnings that affect safety for both humans and pets. Alternatively, the day offers plenty of opportunities for on-land activities. Access to the lake is easy with a boat ramp, providing wonderful opportunities for boating. The area also boasts well-maintained picnic spots where families and friends can gather to enjoy a delightful afternoon meal under the canopy of towering trees, adding a memorable experience to your visit. In every season, Cataract Lake provides engaging activities, wildlife experiences, and peaceful reprieves that will leave you recharged and inspired by the untouched beauty of nature.
