Beautiful lake. If it weren't on the south side, the city would probably not have decided to park the waste treatment plant right next to it. As it is I wouldn't want to eat fish from there but the bass are plentiful and pretty tough fighters. And it really is a pretty lake

Place sucks. Sewage and wastewater runoff rich in nitrogen causes this place to be a never ending soupy mess of grass, slop, algae and slime. Only way to get around now is with a kayak or airboat. When it wasn't choked out this place was a blast to fish, good luck now. A shame really.
About Lake Munson
Lake Munson is a bit of a paradox in the world of beautiful lakes. Its natural allure is undeniable, with shimmering waters and surrounding flora painting a picturesque scene. However, its proximity to the city's waste treatment plant has significantly impacted its environment, causing frustration among its visitors. Despite the environmental challenges, particularly the severe algae blooms that have deterred many from enjoying its waters, bass fishing remains surprisingly fruitful in Lake Munson if one doesn't mind casting their lines from less-than-ideal spots. For those who love the tranquility of kayaking, the lake still offers a chance to paddle through its waters, but be prepared to navigate through algae-laden areas. While the lake may have its struggles, it is a reminder of the delicate balance between nature and human impact. Travellers should weigh the lake's scenic value against its environmental issues before visiting.
