Once was a decent pond here; they called it Mexican Hay Lake to be exceedingly optimistic. Now it's nothing but a low spot in a pasture that sometimes gets a little marchy.

About Mexican Hay Lake
Nestled in a once verdant area, Mexican Hay Lake, more affectionately referred to as the "Best hay lake around," appears to have succumbed to the whims of Mother Nature. Once a promising oasis, today it presents only the remnants of its aquatic past, now transitioning to a marshy lowland that seems more in state of perpetual drought than of lake-like splendor. While it might not offer the aquatic recreation one might hope for, it’s ideal for those curious about how nature adapts and transforms. Visitors driving by may find more inspiration in its historical tale than in current recreational offerings. However, those interested in rustic camping might find the area appealing, amidst the humbling beauty of the broader Texan, Utahan, or Californian landscapes.
