There isn’t much water and it’s June 2024. We sat under a beautiful shade tree but the kids couldn’t go into the murky swamp water.

$20 TICKET AUTOMATED MACHINES. To use the parking lot.. IT'S AN ABSOLUTE NOTHING LAKE .. IT'S A SHAME, the state thinks it needs to be charging people $20 for this sham of a lake.. THE WATER LOOKS HORRIBLE

Good trout fishing! Sucks it's on the road. They close the parking area right as it's prime time for fishing!!
About Lower Lake Mary
Situated within Coconino National Forest near Flagstaff, Arizona, Lower Lake Mary is a seasonal lake known for its fluctuating water levels and scenic desert surroundings. Unfortunately, in recent years, visitors have found the lake lacking in water, reducing the range of activities typically expected at a more robust reservoir. However, for dedicated anglers, Lower Lake Mary can offer an excellent trout fishing experience when conditions permit, despite the challenges of low water and mossy areas. For travelers seeking shade, the lakeside trees provide a respite, but those hoping for a swim may be disappointed by the swamp-like conditions when levels are low. Access to the lake, while convenient, requires a $20 parking fee, so some visitors choose to park farther away and walk. While the lake's current state may not be ideal for all recreational activities, it remains a spot worth checking out for those in search of an off-the-beaten-path day trip in the Arizona region.
