Nice place to take a first-timer fishing. Great for walkers and runners who enjoy inclines. Some open grassy places to play or relax. If you get to the candy cane pipes, you can talk to one another. Fun!

Frequented this place 40 years ago with my Labrador Retrievers. ..now the water is now disgusting. Oil slick on the water surface. Old tires in the water.. Garbage everywhere! Fishing lines everywhere to get tangled on.. Cant imagine even eating any of those fish. People ruined this once beautiful place.

Very nice nature trails, loss of Wildlife, great scenery, real relaxing environment
About South Mountain Reservoir
Nestled amid breathtaking scenery, South Mountain Reservoir was once a jewel among nature parks, where visitors flocked to relish its serenity. Over the years, it has attracted fishermen, families, and avid hikers, thanks to its lush surroundings and rolling trails. Particularly popular among locals and dog owners, it offered broad grassy expanses perfect for playful afternoons and leisurely picnics. While its nature trails continue to promise an invigorating escape for hikers and runners alike, the reservoir's allure has waned due to increasing pollution and neglect. What once was crystal-clear water has sadly become tarnished over time. Today, oil slicks, discarded tires, and litter mar the surface, casting a shadow over the ecological health and safety of the fish that inhabit these waters. Nevertheless, for those on a mission to explore trails with an extra mile in mind, or simply find a pocket of peace away from the hustle, the park offers quietude amidst its vast landscape. Despite its troubling state, South Mountain Reservoir remains a park where the echoes of wildlife can still just be felt, and the relatively serene atmosphere beckons those looking to stretch their legs and clear their minds on undulating paths. It serves as a stark reminder of nature's fragility and the importance of preservation.
