It's been a very long time since this lake has been as full as it is now. It's wonderful to see it again in all it's glory.

The scenery, the water, and the experience being out on the water were great. There was nobody else there, on the water. There were multiple vehicles that would come down to the boat ramp and just sit there. The dock was at the top of the boat ramp "dry docked" so no where to park our ski's and then also there was no parking for our vehicles once we got our ski's in the water so we also used the top of the boat ramp. The place is definitely neglected, run down, graffiti on everything, no docks or bathrooms, there is law enforcement, and he made sure to check our permits. I told my husband, I would consider this place to be an adult kind of outing not exactly kid friendly. If they could get some programs in order to clean and maintain the grounds that place could be bringing in tons of revenue. I guess there hasn't been a lot of water there in a long time but besides all that I had a great time. I love going on little adventures with my family, it's always a good time.

Natural landscape is quite beautiful. I understand the history of the dam, which is sad in itself. Disappointing to see the destruction and trash around the dam itself. Since the flooding in the 90s this area will never be the same.
About San Carlos Reservoir
Perched amidst Arizona’s stunning high desert landscape, San Carlos Reservoir is a lake of contrasts. Once brimming with vitality, the lake has succumbed to the challenges of decreased water levels and neglect over the years. Though these issues present a somber picture, the natural beauty of the surrounding environment remains a compelling draw for visitors. The reservoir is a jewel at full capacity, offering breathtaking views and reminding adventurers of its former glory days. It's a place where one can bask in the serene atmosphere and clear, blue skies, particularly pleasing for boating enthusiasts who occasionally find solitude on its waters. For those looking for a unique escape into nature’s raw beauty, San Carlos Reservoir still offers opportunities, even as it grapples with pressing environmental concerns. However, potential visitors should manage their expectations, as amenities are sparse. With no operational docks and lack of proper infrastructure, organizing outings requires extra preparation, especially for those passionate about launching boats or jet skis. Legal and safety checks by local enforcement underscore the importance of being well-prepared with necessary permits. The reservoir stands as a poignant reminder of water's value, particularly in desert landscapes, and the challenges communities face in prioritizing development while conserving natural resources. While efforts to revitalize the area are still needed, San Carlos Reservoir remains a captivating choice for those who relish exploring the desert's rugged charm.
