Not sure what is going on with the playground area, but when we were there a couple weeks ago there was caution tape all around the playground and it looked like it hadn't been mowed in quite some time. The lake on that side was overgrown with weeds and lilypads and the dock really needs to be either torn down completely or rebuilt more safely. I have seen this park when it was cleaned up and it is small but nice! And the have restrooms now but I haven't been in them yet 😂

Great little park! I come here all the time for photoshoots. What I love most about this park are the beautiful lakes, the old rustic playground, and the bridges. You can walk all around the lakes, but I would use caution because I have seen hog tracks back there. So just make sure you can protect yourself. I haven't seen any snakes but I bet they are there somewhere. Also, use caution against that big goose. He is pretty aggressive and I have seen him go after people. I usually am armed with a reflector for the photography, so if I let that fan out he doesnt mess with me. But I have seen lots of people fishing, picnicking and walking the trails. You must return during bluebonnet season for pictures, and come at sunset!

The lake is pretty but you cannot swim here. Only fishing. The playground is broken and boarded up. The city needs to fix the playground. It's been broken for YEARS. If you're looking for a playground for the kids, don't waste your time. Head over to the sports complex or Shannon park. There's even a little playground on Park street off HWY 34.
About Kaufman City Lakes
Nestled quietly in the charming town of Kaufman, Texas, the Kaufman City Lakes beckon visitors with their rustic allure and serene landscapes. Although recent visits have disclosed that some areas of the park, including a picturesque yet aging playground, are in need of TLC, the lakes themselves remain a natural treasure worth exploring. Surrounding the tranquil waters are well-worn trails inviting leisurely walks or energetic jogs at sunset, when the sky paints a resplendent panorama over the water. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate the abundant spots available, where patience often rewards with a catch beneath the placid surface. Photographers, both amateur and professional, find inspiration among the lakes’ vivid wildflowers during bluebonnet season, and the quaint bridges provide ideal backdrops for memorable portraits. While swimming is not permitted, the lakes offer a peaceful escape for picnics and nature-immersion alike. However, visitors are advised to remain cautious; the natural settings shelter various wildlife, such as hogs and an oddly notorious goose that has earned a reputation for its aggressive encounters. Though the park shows hints of neglect, the charm of the Kaufman City Lakes prevails, particularly for those yearning for a quiet retreat to nature, whether for meditative solitude or a family outing—just remember to leave enough time to find a playground elsewhere if you have little ones eager for a play session.
