Don’t take your children hiking on any trails. DNR officers will harass you, hand on their gun, search your elementary aged children’s bags and take their pictures because “people come out here to do drugs” this was a single mother and her two small children, one of them special needs. She filed a complaint but nothing was done. Getting children into the woods to explore nature and identifing plants and engaging them in educational activities while enjoying the beautiful places our area has to offer IS an effort to divert children from drugs. What is wrong with you DNR.

It’s very pretty and fun to kayak but the Natural Resource Officers stop me a lot without a reason. They do it simply to try and catch people doing something but I’ve been stopped enough times for absolutely nothing that it feels like harassment at this point.

About Lake Gordon
Nestled amidst a serene backdrop, Lake Gordon is framed by the lush expanse of state forest, offering an idyllic setting for outdoor enthusiasts. Despite its natural beauty, the lake's reputation is marred by mixed reviews. Some visitors appreciate the opportunity to engage in activities like kayaking or fishing, with the lake serving as a critical water reservoir that feeds into Lake Koon. The picturesque landscape is perfect for those seeking a scenic getaway, but some guests have reported unsatisfactory experiences with local law enforcement and customer service. Visitors have shared concerns about the behavior of Department of Natural Resources (DNR) officers, expressing feelings of harassment, particularly when visiting with children. Such encounters have overshadowed otherwise memorable visits, causing some to file complaints about perceived overreach and intimidation. As such, it's crucial for future visitors to be aware of these reports. Additionally, the lake has received criticism for being poorly maintained and somewhat expensive, with issues like faulty vending machines and customer service problems frustrating several visitors. Despite these challenges, those who enjoy quiet paddling or casting a line might still find solace and adventure amidst Lake Gordon’s waters and surrounding scenery. To optimize your visit, consider planning with caution and ensuring you have cash for transactions to avoid similar situations as those experienced by other visitors. Remember to pack all essentials and verify local regulations to enjoy a smoother experience at Lake Gordon.
