Crystal clear lake with fish! Caught crappie, bluegill, and 2 pike over 30”! Small lake, easy to navigate, clean porta potty, about 5 parking spaces for trailers

This may be a good lake HOWEVER nothing but lily pads until WAY into the lake, and the parking lot is a joke! First, the signs say no single cars in parking lots, yet folks park double all the time. Second, really annoying when a boat launch allows so many non-trailered vehicles to park there, yet provide no other options. Guess the locals really hate the non-locals. Basically if you're not there at the crack of dawn or have great parking karma, you're out of luck. We ended up going south to Lotus Lake, which was awesome for water sports but terrible for fishing/kayaking because of that. We're kind of done with the Lake Minnetonka area... the crowding and lack of respect has us burnt out trying.
About Christmas Lake
If you're searching for a hidden gem among Minnesota's lakes, Christmas Lake might just be the answer — provided you can beat the crowds. Tucked away near the bustling Lake Minnetonka area, it boasts stunning natural beauty but also a notorious reputation for parking struggles. The pristine, crystal-clear waters are home to an impressive array of fish, as local anglers have reported catches of crappie, bluegill, and even pike over 30 inches. If you're into fishing, this lake can offer a quiet, bountiful retreat amidst the picturesque backdrop of autumn leaves. Access to the lake, however, requires strategic planning. The parking lot, though maintained, is limited and highly competitive. This challenge is compounded by locals who, at times, seem less than welcoming to visitors. For those willing to navigate these hurdles, the rewards include tranquil shorelines and the pleasure of a well-maintained environment, overseen by a friendly on-site boat checker ensuring clean launches. While Christmas Lake offers plentiful fishing opportunities, those seeking other aquatic adventures might find nearby Lotus Lake more accommodating. Both facilities deserve a visit, though they cater to different interests. Ultimately, Christmas Lake remains a pristine haven for those persistent enough to navigate its quirks. Plan your visit early, bring your patience, and Christmas Lake might just gift you with a day well spent.
