Beautiful lake. We live on it and go out every once in a while. It is beautiful at night on holidays when there are fireworks. There ARE alligators in this water. My husband loves to fish and duck hunt (during season) on the lake. I like looking at all the flowers that bloom on the water Tons of lilies and also these unique purple flowers that sometimes bloom. I can't remember the name now. They are much less common than the lilies. I wish the water level would raise in some areas. If they would maintain the lake and clear out the areas where the vegetation has overgrown, I think the water level would do better. They do have a public boat slip and ample parking now near the Little Red School House.

If you are a small boater or fisherman you wold love this lake and boat launch. This has to be the quietest park in mid Florida. I have been there many times on a bike ride and never seen more the two boat trailers in this huge lot. There is a bathroom within a five minute walk but if the bookstore nearby is closed so is the bathroom.

There is gators. You can get to the boat launch by turning at the 7-Eleven on spring Hill drive.Good spot to go fishing if you have a small boat or kayak.some times the water is low trying to get your boat in bring something to push with until u can get out there and put motor down some times trolling motor can work if u can raise it.I usually paddle kayak here but have went out in boat ,either way I have cought some nice bass ,most of the time there is no more than 4 people but can get busy not really sure about fishing from off sure but from the looks of it, looks like a few spots.
About Hunters Lake
Nestled in the heart of mid Florida, Hunters Lake is a hidden gem for those seeking tranquility and natural beauty. This small lake is a paradise for fishing enthusiasts, particularly those interested in bass fishing, with locals frequently catching impressive specimens. While Hunters Lake is not large, this serene haven offers a perfect escape for leisure activities like kayaking and small boating, boasting calm waters and minimal powerboat traffic. One of Hunters Lake’s most enchanting features is its vibrant aquatic flora. Visitors often marvel at the abundant lilies that grace the water's surface, alongside rarer bursts of unique purple flowers whose names elude even the most frequent guests. For those who come during seasonal blooms, the sight of water lilies, spatterdock, and pickereral weed in full array is simply breathtaking. Despite its charm, Hunters Lake does have its quirks. While the presence of alligators is not uncommon—adding a touch of wild allure—caution is advised. The water levels can fluctuate, which might pose challenges for those launching small boats, yet paddling enthusiasts find the lake perfectly suited to kayaking. The community near the lake shows signs of historical charm. Although whispers of restoration plans for certain historical sites linger in conversations, visitors might find themselves wandering through areas that echo a bygone era, albeit with a hint of neglect. Though the lake's facilities are modest, improvements like the public boat slip near the Little Red School House and the roomy parking area cater well to fisherfolk and boaters. Just be aware, access to restrooms relies on local businesses that might not always be open. For anyone yearning for a peaceful retreat into nature while visiting mid Florida, Hunters Lake offers a unique blend of quietude, natural beauty, and aquatic adventure.
