This place was $20 a night, and had lots of sites for RVs and/or tents. The host was kind and helpful. Bathrooms weren't far, they were clean and had warm showers. There is a bear box, fire pit, grill, and pinic table at every site. It was fairly quiet, some boat and road noise in the evening. The sites themselves weren't far from each other, but had lots of trees and bushes to separate them so you aren't right up on your neighbor. Roads arent too bad, but there are potholes, so watch out! We decided to leave a night early because of a thunder storm coming in and not having time to dry out our tent before we left, but I wish we could've stayed longer! We will certainly come back!

Lake Dorr has a cabin you can rent through recreation.gov and managed by the Alexander Springs park. Through a series of dirt roads that are not on the map and two locked gates you arrive to a very modern and sweet cabin with a screened porch on an acre of land with direct frontage to Lake Dorr. There is a private pier to fish from and canoes for your use. The moment you see the view, you forget you thought you might be going the wrong way or that you will never get the bear poop you ran over off of your car. The kitchen is stocked with cooking supplies, there is a modern and full size refrigerator, stove and microwave. It appears to be wheel chair accessible. You will need to bring your own linen.

Grateful for this simple, lovely campground that has been surprisingly quiet and decent. The surrounding trees are really lovely, often swaying gently in the wind, and several times we (mostly) heard Vs of sandhill passing nearby. That was the best part. The water is low right now and the boat ramp, if there is such a thing, is very mucky. I’d watch you don’t get stuck. The disappointing part about the park and the reason for less stars, is that the bathroom has not been Noticeably cleaned for the week we’ve been here. We checked in with a woman in the host spot when we first arrived and every day have seen a guy on a golf cart making a round of some sort. I’m not sure whether either of them is responsible for the cleaning, but we have seen the same unmentionable smears on the same toilets, the same crumpled leaves by other toilets, the same hair in the sink, the same TP remnants on the floor in the same spot. The bathhouses have warm water and showers, thankfully, but to take a shower in the winter in a big cold room with an overhead fun is pretty chilly. Better than no shower, Eventually. Grateful also for the dish washing room where people have left their unwanted books—I’ve plowed through several of them. Just fyi, if you’re counting on using your solar panels for all your needs during the winter months, the lovely surrounded trees provide only filtered sunlight. We struggled each day with getting enough charge on batteries so we could charge multiple devices. In the summer this won’t be an issue. There are bear-proof dumpsters and food storage boxes all around the camp. The spaces are natural (grass) and very in length and size. First come first serve, apparently. Pretty place we would return to, possibly when it’s a tad warmer.
