This is one of my favorite places to camp. There is over 300 camp sites and 99 are RV full hookup sites right along side of Lake CAMANCHE! About 20 of those sites are right beside the Trout Pond which is stocked often!

This place has been in my list for a very long time, finally decided to check it out. Went camping on memorial weekend, it was cold and super windy but I still had the most amazing time. We stayed on south shore moccasin site. The site had some pros and cons. Pros: super close to bathroom Super close to marina, launch, rental and shop. The the best spot to swim was just making your way down the hill. View of lake and amazing sunset. Tap was on our site which made it so convenient. Cons: we reached on Friday night the site was filled with roaches. When we lit the camp fire, things got better. Bathroom is nasty The site is not marked correctly so it's really hard to know which part we are suppose to be at. Like between you and your neighbors, it's hard to decide. But I guess you will just adjust to your area. We were in the middle of two families with loud music. I did not mind coz we don't have signal or radio so enjoyed the music. But I know for some people it can be an issue. We got lucky that our neighbors had good lights so our kitchen was well lit. Day three we did boating, the water was super rough because of all this hey skis. If you just want to rent boat and take and park some where and enjoy the quiet time, go towards cove side. It was very pleasant and great sandy spots to park. So when iam facing the boat rental place from land I'll make my way to the right. There's a 20mph sign posted so people don't race there. Which makes the water calm. I found the shop very expensive, I was trying to get batteries, so 4 pack battery is $10, I drove 9min away and got it for a bit cheaper. But the staffs at the shop we're amazing and full of information. A big shout out to Angela for being the most amazing person there. It was an amazing weekend and an amazing experience. Do go enjoy yourselves. The drive is pretty as well. Happy camping guys.

About Camanche Reservoir
Nestled at the heart of California's Sierra Nevada foothills, Camanche Reservoir stands as a quintessential destination for outdoor enthusiasts. With its sprawling 12.5 square miles of water surface, this man-made oasis is renowned for offering a harmonious blend of adventure and tranquility. Camaraderie by the lakeside is a highlight at Camanche Reservoir, with over 300 campsites catering to both traditional campers and RV travelers. The South Shore moccasin site provides convenient access to essentials and boasts picturesque views, making it a preferred choice for many. However, visitors should come prepared for potential nuisances: from pesky insects to confounding site boundaries that challenge navigational instincts. Yet, nature's simple joys—breathtaking sunsets, starry nights, and the calm of lapping waters—overcome these small hurdles. For water sport lovers, the lake offers ideal conditions for boating, kayaking, jet skiing, and more. A day on the water can lead to thrilling adventures across its wavy expanse or peaceful retreats in secluded coves where the serenity is only punctuated by the calls of nature. Do heed the signs demarcating speed limits, especially near the appealing coves. Fishing enthusiasts, though, might find the shore-access restrictive with limited room and high crowd volumes on weekends. Yet, with a boat, you can explore richer fishing territories, rewarding patience with catches that make for great stories around the campfire. Though shore amenities like the camp shop are available, their steep pricing might warrant a short drive beyond campgrounds for better deals. Yet, the friendly and knowledgeable staff, like the vibrant Angela, embellishes the experience with their warm hospitality and helpful tips. Whether it's marveling at the moon’s reflection over the water or indulging in adventurous aquatic expeditions, Camanche Reservoir provides an enriching escape. With careful planning and the right expectations, visitors will undoubtedly be rewarded with memorable outdoor escapades.
