Been up here once a long time ago. Thought maybe they would open it up for fishing since they have developed the area.
About Rattlesnake Reservoir
Tucked away discreetly yet a short drive from the bustling city life of Irvine and Orange County lies Rattlesnake Reservoir. While its tantalizing name might suggest an air of wild adventure and solitude, the reservoir presents quite a different atmosphere—one of exclusivity and protection. Upon your approach, you'll encounter a secured, gated entrance controlled by vigilant security teams who ensure the peace and privacy of this area. Contrary to what some might expect from a body of water in its idyllic setting, Rattlesnake Reservoir does not offer public fishing opportunities. Despite its promising name popping up on searches for fishing spots, it has remained firm in its stand as a non-fishing area, maintaining a serene and undisturbed environment for its visitors and local wildlife. The surrounding scenery is picturesque, offering a sense of seclusion that's perfect for those who wish to enjoy the beauty from a distance or in nearby picnic areas. Though the reservoir itself is not open for fishing or direct recreational water activities, nearby zones offer potential for camping and hiking, allowing visitors to still experience the Californian outdoors. If you are seeking a place to fish, locals recommend exploring other areas within the region, like North Lake in Irvine, which is famed for being a welcoming fishing spot. For those who travel here, the lake’s role shifts from an active recreational site to a protected environmental haven, reserved primarily for those who appreciate nature as an observer rather than as a participant in the traditional sense.
