The Mauch Chunk Lake Park is located in the Boroughs of Jim Thorpe. It’s in Carbon County, less than an hour’s drive north of Allentown. I am not saying it's worth it or not, that's up to you but if you are in this area, visiting Jim Thorpe, you must come here. While lodging at this park, you can enjoy the art of Mother Nature on the 2.8-mile man-made Mauch Chunk Lake. Swimming is one of the most popular activities at Mauch Chunk Lake, but you can only do it while lifeguards are on duty. On the beach, visitors can enjoy access to play equipment for children, a food and refreshment stand, and a beach pavilion. You can’t bring your pets. Fee: beach access is not free. Daily admission to the beach area is $3 for adults and $2 for children over 3 years old. Non-county residents pay a higher fee of $10 per adult and $7 per child. The park, where the lake is, it’s full of activities. Camping: YES!! From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the camping rate is $20/per night for county residents and $40/per night for non-county residents. There are five different trails at Mauch Chunk Lake. The Switchback Trail, the most popular trail, is designed for hiking and biking.

It's advertised as a big bass lake, which means ya can't keep any under 16". While I didn't catch any keepable ones, I did catch quite a few here. There are kayak rentals and a bait shop at the lake, which is convenient. The trails are nice as well and the park in general is very well kept.

Absolutely gorgeous lake! We love taking our kayaks out, we could spend hours on the lake. It's peaceful and you will see all sorts of wildlife around.

Been fishing here since I was a kid. As the owner of God'z Rod'z and Reel'z I bring people here to fish. I bring my kids here to fish too. Great for bass, chain pickerel, blue gills, green sunfish, red fin pickerel, channel cat fish, brown bull heads, and yellow bull heads too.

Crystal clear and not too cold water!nice clean beach close to parking with a covered picnic Pavillion. Bathroom/changing room area was functional but dated. Could use upgrading. But nice for an afternoon at a beach/lake!
