Itβs a man-made lake, the focal point of Pittsburgh area North Park. Apparently very well planned, it is built as a catchment along the stretch of Pine Creek. As such, it has sustained wildlife within the park.πππ. πThere are notable Canada geese and wild ducks. π On occasions, there are deer and their fawns. On several areas along the lake edge are protected pockets of marshes, home to many songbirds. Wild flowers have strewn themselves along the edges as well.πππ It is a recreational lake: providing a venue for fishing, kayaking and paddle boards but no swimming (which is made possible in a separate pool built to north of the lake. Surrounding the lake are paved trails as well as walking and biking trails in the immediate wooded areas. The surrounding manicured grass and shelters provide areas for picnics.

Love this place. Close to home, plenty of spots to take the family fishing. Never disappointed when we come here

Such a great lake to have close by. Right now October 11th the trees are in peak color. The 5 mile trail around the lake is perfect for jogging, walking or bike riding. Great for fishing, paddle boarding or canoeing. There is always something to do at the lake, just show up and you will find something fun to do.

I just recently moved to this area and found out about this lake. Definitely will be a place I go kayaking and fish at when the weather warms up! Watch out for deer. Thereβs plenty of them in that area!
