Reviews of Lake Lac qui parle

Tons of public acres surround this reservoir of the Minnesota River. Dirty due to massive amounts of farm runoff in our area. It is very beautiful and one of the few lakes in our area that is not surrounded by cabins and never will be, due to the fact that it is almost completely in circled by public and state land. It has more of a secluded feel to it

First off, the views from the upper campground are very nice. I originally reserved a site to tent on the lower campground because I knew there were mature trees (shade) there....not so much on the upper/newer campground. Also the lower campground was closer to the beach. When I got there, there was a sign that the beach was closed. Strike one. Then as I drove through to my campsite, I realized there was not a single other camper down there. Single female camping alone in a tent. Kinda creeped me out. Strike two. But I noticed some campsites had tags on them reserved so people were obviously on their way. I resolved to stay in spite of the beach closure. Stepped out to unpack and the worst hordes of mosquitoes I've ever encountered came over me in a cloud (no breeze in mature trees plus swampy area). Strike 3 for the lower campground. Headed up to the park office where they were just closing but the park staff was extremely helpful and friendly! Changed my reservation to the upper campground. It is a drawback to have no shade. The lower campground is prettier in my opinion, but overall it's a very nice State park - just frustrated about the beach being closed and having to choose between hot sun or mosquitoes.

Great views, close, but not to close to other campers.

Different wildlife, and foliage to enjoy in it's natural state.
