I love this lake, and to walk along it. Watching the sunset here with a quiet book or sipping on a beverage of choice is a peaceful activity for me. Btw there's wildlife here, especially the ubiquitous gators #nature #gainesville

The best way to view Bivens Arm is from a hard to find nature trail that is accessible either at the corner of Shealy Drive and Richey Road or at the south end of SW 16th Street. Parking at the Shealy Drive trailhead is difficult. During the day you need a UF parking decal to park in the west lot of the Animal Sciences Building (you need an orange decal to park in the east lot). After hours anyone can park in the east lot (I think they stop enforcing the lot at 4:30, but check the sign). Parking at the end of SW 16th Street can also be difficult. The trailhead is just south of Shands Hospital and the street spots are often full during the day. Also, don't park in the residential lots because they all have aggressive towing policies. The trailhead on SW 16th Street can be hard to find. It is located between the Win Dixie Hope Lodge and the Rogers Rotary Scholarship House. The trail is a mile or two long and meanders through a swampy area before arriving at Bivens Arm. It follows the shore of Bivens Arm for several hundred yards.

A piece of Gainesville Florida paradise is hiding right in the middle of a busy college football town! The uniqueness of North Central Florida's natural habitat is preserved and enjoyed by many!
