Kayaks to rent. Middle of no where google maps lead through the harsh terrain route upon arriving to the lot realized there was a smoother drive route. Lake crustal clear. One dog friendly route along the lake bed very therapeutic. Quaint benches and picnic tables scattered throughout. Great for family outings.

This lake is a hidden gem! It's so peaceful! It's a great spot to go fishing, or just take a stroll along the lake shore. The drive is a bit rough, need a 4WD with high clearance!

Independence Lake is a beautiful lake hidden in the forest North of Truckee. It is located about 3 miles down a dirt fire road and offers beautiful scenery. There are trials that parallel the lake for hiking and overall is a very peaceful isolated setting.

One of my favorite places to get away. Very hidden and not talked about much. A hidden gem! A lot of hikes to do around there area. Waterfalls and other lakes too! The lake offers free kayaks every weekend during the summer and fishing boats every other weekend but its on a first come first serve basis.

Free kayak rental (no outside boats allowed). Beautiful serene lake. Need 4WD with high clearance to get up the rocky dirt road.
