I caught my first fish here 15 years ago! Great little area for the kids to practice their skills and for parents to relax and enjoy the view. It's super beautiful in the wintertime when everything freezes over. Truly a year-round attraction for families and nature enjoyers in general!

The Sawmill.Pond is a great small pond for children to fish at and practice thier fishing skills. The pond is accessible for all to see and enjoy it's beauty, but only children under 14 are allowed to fish here. Still a beautiful pond to see during the Summer months.

The pond is stocked by a hatchery to allow kids under 14 to fish. There is plenty of space around the pond to setup and a dedicated parking lot nearby.

Been coming to Tahoe for years. First time I saw a bear. Absolutely incredible. It was swimming and munching on flora along the banks of the pond. When he emerged from the water he climbed a tree so fast I was dumbfounded. His way down was slightly clumsy compared to the climb. He then headed towards the park benches by the roadside (where I was and took the picture (a screen capture from video) Truly an amazing experience. Especially since I saw this pond on the way back from a long hike I just took and just wanted a place to chill from the heat, not expecting, planning or even knowing the pond was there.

Sawmill pond is a hidden gem in South Lake for young anglers. You can fish at the pond for free up to the age of 14. Rangers do come by and check so make sure you aren’t an adult fishing! There is a decent parking lot and street parking along the road. They do stock but it’s been limited lately because of the pandemic and hatchery issues. Most fish caught are small but perfect for little kids. Had a great time with my son fishing for the first time.
