About a mile walk in from trail head off road 621. Definitely an amazing spot. Road is steep and 4 wheel drive and vehicle with high horse power is highly recommended if you're going to attempt to drive in.

Tamarack Lake is accessible by foot, bike (motorized or human powered), A/UTV and 4WD/AWD vehicle with good ground clearance, so the location is quiet and secluded. The lake is relatively clear, and you can see the bottom... though, it is mainly made up of rocks with composing tree leaves. Because it's a relatively shallow lake (you can walk about 10 - 15't from shore at spots and still stand at waist or chest deep water), water is able to retain warmer temp during summer days. There is one campsite right at the lake, and a few others just down the road from it. There is no toilet facility nor potable water. So, bring drinking water, and wag bags and pack out. There are a couple other lakes near by within walking or biking distance to check out as well. These lakes are very close to the PCT... so, you may run into the occasional PCT'er. Even though, you may be near the lake and far from anyone, always follow fire restrictions that may be in place when you visit. It's the right thing to do, and they will send CAL FIRE spotter plane and helicopter out to the campsite if there is report of fire/smoke activities.
