Wwaver Lake can be a nice and quiet lake nestled in the Jennie Lakes Wilderness. The lake itself is fairly shallow and holds a population of Brook trout along with planted rainbow trout. This area is heavily pressured by anglers, so the fish can be quite skittish. Whether visiting this lake as a day trip, or an overnighter, the views are still incredible. In the summer time, the trail is extremely popular for day hikers, Backpackers, anglers and folks looking to bag the nearby Shell Mountain. There are two routes here, the first is at Big Meadow parking lot the second at the Fox Trailhead which cuts this hike by about a mile. This trail is VERY popular for dogs, so expect to see many while hiking. I've yet to run into a piece of trash or litter here, despite how popular it is so thank you to everyone who is cleaning after themselves!

After a 2 + mile hike it is definitely worth the hike to get to this quaint, scenic lake. There's no tables, so you'll have to find a spot to settle in and enjoy the views. Bring a hammock. There are trouts and California browns that you can fish for. I've seen a lot of reviews saying it gets packed here, but I came here in early June and it wasn't terribly packed. I saw most people hiking up in the afternoon. We hiked up in the early morning to have time to relax in the afternoon. Either way, it is definitely worth it. Bring some snacks, repellant, sunscreen and water as the hike is a steady incline, albeit a pretty noticeable trail.

Great place for a kids backpacking trip being it's such a short hike up and in from Fox Meadow. Lake was pretty in all hours of the day. The campground was so quiet at night, which was great. The only real downside to this place is the pressure that the crowds put on it over the weekend especially into Saturday. There were large groups of 5+ people at a time coming in to camp which filled up spots pretty quickly. They allow dogs there, so of course everyone has their prized canine with them.. Bring a leash and expect to be shunned if you don't have your dog on a leash as well. This place gets so much pressure from people, there is toilet paper and holes dug all over the place, especially a few feet from anywhere there is a fire ring/campsite, so watch for that. The water situation is kind of gross pumping from the outflow creek. My water filter fouled multiple times, which was weird since the lake seemed so clear. The fishing was good. Really can't describe how bad people there trying to fish can be. Loud talking, kids throwing rocks in the water, spinning rods everywhere, probably 20 people at a time fishing and nobody catching. which is actually kind of comical. 10/10 would go back.
