Amazing time at the cabin in La Porte. Fresh snow and snowmobiling around Little Grass Valley Reservoir to soak in the views. Duke had a top time getting shuttled up to the cabin ! Looking forward to enjoying some peanut butter whiskey and hanging out by the fire tonight. Definitely stop by Reilly’s for their pizza…tasty times

Campsite and bathrooms not in the best shape for cleanliness. However just reading a 3 week old post makes me understand. But still one of my favorite places to camp. Biking trails. Access to PCT. Hike to top of Bald Mountain, steep hike but good trail and beautiful view worth the effort. Fishing wasn’t so good however I go for atmosphere as it is beautiful up here. Been coming here since about 1983.

We love this camping area! It’s truly one of our favorites. You’re camping right on the water 🙌🏼🙌🏼. Pack all of your water toys, lol, they have a dock station. Kids also love to jump off of it. You can kayak to such great scenery. The water is clear!!!!!! Very clear There are restrooms right next to the camping areas. Take some water shoes because the rocks hurt your feet. There is plenty of fishing there. It gets chilly so pack accordingly. There are no stores nearby so pack your food and snacks! Lock up your food.We haven’t experienced any bears at our sites but others reported so. It’s such a great spot. Love it

I was a bit hesitant about the Dotta Fire. I had a plan B just in case. I didn’t see or smell any smoke when we arrived or the entire time we were there. The lake was low, but it was great to swim in. The water was warm and very enjoyable. Our campsite was spacious. We stayed in Red Feather Campground and drove around to the Little Beaver campground next door. There was PLENTY of FCFS spots for a 4th of July weekend. The small little town of La Port is about a 10 minute Drive away and we drove over for Ice and to check our emails (I know I know). Bears visited every night, so we all woke up from 11pm to 3am from campers scaring them away. Our first night, one came and was pounding on our bear box until it was scared away. My 10 MO pup didn’t bark at all 😂. This was our first time venturing outside of the Tahoe NTL Forest, and I must say we will be back to explore more camps in the Plumas NTL forest.

It’s really beautiful. Our wonderful firefighters saved it a couple years ago. But there are no camp hosts or law enforcement in the evenings or on weekends, so it’s like the Wild West: dangerous levels of bacteria in the potable water, kids chopping down trees, rude campers, nosy campers, weed smell, loud music, partying, and talking until 12:45 a.m.; boats racing on the lake at midnight; a handgun discharged in our loop at 2 a.m.; people walking through our campsite, dogs roam through campsites, and no toilet paper for days. Even though they tell us to lock food up, the park service doesn’t pick up garbage regularly, so it spills out all over—watermelons, bread, etc. all exposed for the bears, which frequent all three campgrounds regularly. They are putting campers at risk for bear confrontations. The roads are a mess, pavement 1/8” thick so they’re full of potholes. They close off loops for no reason. They don’t open the campgrounds until July because they are unwilling to repair them quickly from winter damage.
